Technically this shooting took place pre-fash week (for those of you who saw the fabulous video art created by Leila Koren & Kathy St Clair, you’ll understand!), but these photos remind us of spring, and show off the wonderful bird/cat masks we bought at everyone’s favourite costume store, Rose Chong’s.
For your visual pleasure… the film that resulted from this delicious day of beetroot dip, eltham foliage, movie making and cape wearing to follow…

So Fashion Week has come to a bustling close… and, despite we at Lowbrow nearly losing our collective sh*t over pulling together a parade involving some 40 people backstage, much fun was had by all!
Once Upon an Afternoon, our Spring Fashion event at the Toff in Town was a roaring hit, with the Toff band room packed to the rafters with fashionistas and curious punters alike, DJ DeFacto spinning crankin’ tunes, and the works of 7 amazingly talented designers on display. For those of you who didn’t know it was happening, you missed out, but here’s what three thousand said about it:
‘Think David LaChapelle, not Anna Wintour.’ That’s how event organisers are describing this art and fashion gathering. DLC certainly knows how to ‘party’, but he better watch out because Anna’s out there launching the zingers on Letterman. Anyway, this showcase of local designers and artists promises to be just as ad-hoc as one of the photographer’s infamous studio sessions… think Astroturf, DJs, catsuits, art, alpacas, midgets and more. Also, fashion – the kind you can buy right there and then. Part of Melbourne’s Spring Fashion Week, Once Upon an Afternoon runs from 3-5pm so it’s ultra concentrated, like the Red Bull powder you can buy in South East Asia‘
Fun was had by all… and boozy time ensued once our posse of models, designers and stage crew had cloistered ourselves away in the Toff’s stage car booths with copious bottles of champagne! Here are a few teaser photos, with photos from the runway to come!

So last week all the coolest kids in town were at the Order for Lowbrow’s horror indie film night, Oh! The Horror!
We screened gory and ghoulish shorts, dranks True Blood cocktails mixed by the kind bar staff at the Order of Melbourne, and revelled in perverted and terrifying performances by the kids from Sissies & Sluts Theatre Company and Oh The Horror! The Musical (which, by the way, you should get your tickets to at http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=29522&ref=moshtix)
A rad night was had by all, so much so that we’ll be making this film biz a monthly shindig… only more fabulous, with sponsors n’ shit. Stay tuned for details, and in the meantime, feast your eyes on the photographic evidence.

So we cut our teeth working on an event for Dr Sketchy’s Anti Art School (http://www.drsketchymelbourne.com) last month. The brief was simple – Dr Sketchy’s needed a new home for the summer, but in between, wanted to run a special event.
We thought of Madame Brussels, and so the Winter Salon series was born – what is more decadent and more Wildean than life drawin’ in an hedonistic parlour room? The night was a resounding success, with the gorgeous Marawa modeling, as well as Anthony, Rachel n’ I drinking jugs of espresson martinis and soaking up other people’s artistic vibez…. you can see the evidence below.
Stay tuned for more Dr Sketchy’s when we help the amazing Mel Knight relaunch it for the summer!
